Researchers are recruiting participants for a research project that will examine the experience of medical care from the perspectives of individuals with eating disorders and their caregivers.

This study has ethical approval from the University of Michigan.

Research Details:

We’ve all heard (or lived) horror stories about the person with anorexia nervosa (AN) who is told that her heart rate of 40 is ok because she is an athlete or a binge eating disorder (BED) patient who is prescribed a diet rather than treatment for their eating disorder (ED).

Mackenzie Adams (MPh candidate) and I are attempting to collect information on these experiences (good or bad) to help inform educational materials designed for physicians and other healthcare providers regarding appropriate care of individuals with EDs to pave the way for future educational efforts.

We are conducting this project via survey and looking for individuals who:

• Have received (patient/client) or witnessed (caregiver) medical healthcare for any reason during the course on an eating disorder
• Have had this experience within the past 5 years
• Is 18 years or older
