Assessing the Influence of Caregiver Factors on Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders

Background: This study evaluates a new measure of the strengths and challenges caregivers experience during treatment for their child/adolescent’s eating disorder. A systematic review and Delphi study were conducted to develop the measure, designed to support family participation in treatment by identifying additional supports that may be beneficial.

Recruitment and survey: Seeking caregivers of adolescents aged 6-18 in current or recent eating disorder treatment. Participants will complete a Qualtrics survey once, requiring approximately 20 minutes.

Confidentiality: The survey collects non-identifiable demographic data. Participants’ identities are not collected.

Ethics Approval: This project was approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee of the University of New England at Armidale, NSW, Australia. Approval number HE23-171, valid to 19-December, 2024.
